LVCHS Students Raise Funds to Help Children in Developing Countries

The Worm Project - Combating World Hunger Through Parasite Removal

Two cents. That's all it take to protect a child from intestinal worms for six months and minister the love of Jesus in a tangible way. Franconia Mennonite Conference, in conjunction with churches and organizations serving in Nicaragua, Guatemala and Haiti, is working to reach 100,000,000 children in the next twelve years with tablets of Albendazole to rid them of intestinal worms.

Through special "Jeans-for-a-buck" days, LVCHS students raised funds to purchase over 10,000 tablets. Students paid one dollar toward the project and received the privilege to wear jeans instead of the school uniform.

For project coordinator Brittany Castle, a sophomore at LVCHS, this is a family affair. Brittany inherited this project from her older sister, Allyson, a 2006 graduate of LVCHS.
