ESL Program

LVCHS recognizes that not all students who enroll have the same level of English skills.  Most of our international students, and others for whom English is not their primary language may need additional support as all our courses (except our World Languages courses) are taught in English.  All new international students will be given some testing in English immediately before the school year starts in September to assess their ability to manage a high school level English class.  Those who need extra assistance will be required to take ESL (English as a Second Language – a for-credit class) as a substitute for their normal English class. At the end of each school year an assessment test will determine if another year of ESL would still be beneficial.

A fee will be assessed for all students taking ESL (see Tuition/Fees page).
